Boston Baked Beans
This was a staple snack growing up in my household, although my father never made it from scratch. Canned Boston baked beans are tasty, but the homemade version always surpasses! In colonial New England, baked beans were typically placed into brick ovens overnight as the heat slowly dissipated, along with brown bread or other slow cooking dishes.
You can make this entire dish in the time it takes your beans to cook because adding the seasoning takes only a couple minutes. If you soak your beans the day before, they will cook in about an hour. I cook this on the stove top so it isn’t technically baked, but you could bake it in your oven.
